Create a chess board 3d model of your choice.

I used the game character Kirby for my design. 

Hierarchical Order:

King: King Kirby
This kirby is also a lighter color but it is the biggest piece to signify a king. Looking at the crown and the way of the scepter again. Based off a king piece only being able to move one space I pointed the scepter up and the crown only has one jewel.
Queen:Queen Kirby
This kirby is a lighter fem color/appearance, the crown and scepter indicate movement ( the crown has gems along the head fully around to indicate that it can move in any direction along with the scepter pointing out).
Bishop: Cooking kirby
When used this kirby cooks up characters diagonally around it, based off a Bishop that can only move diagonally
Rook:Power taker kirby
This kirby is only able to suck in powers in the direction it is looking, only one direction at a time front/back,left, right, based on how the rook moves in chess
Knight: Meta Knight; 
A flying kirby relative, because it can fly and has a sword that can get enemies in any direction I used it as the knight piece based on how a chess knight can only go over other figures and moves one space to the left/right.
Pawn:Sick slumped over kirby
, the idea is because that Kirby is not going to move much so I used it as the one a space mover.
